Day trips to Goriška BrdaDiscover Brda in a day. We suggest four different itineraries which can be modified and changed according to your specific wishes.Prices are for a minimum group of 25 persons BrdaKojsko – Gonjače – Šmartno – Dobrovo – Medana Arrival in Brda, your local guide meets the group. Above the village Kojsko, on Tabor, is situated the succursal pilgrimage Church of the Holy Cross (Sv. Križ na Taboru). The church hides one of the most beautiful late Gothic wing altars in Slovenia. In Gonjače we will rise to the top of the lookout tower and admire the view of the land above and below. We walk to the medieval village Šmartno and take a stroll through the narrow streets. A short visit to the Baroque Church of St. Martin, art exhibitions in the House of Culture and the typical Brda house, the Gothic house, seeingvisitingtourinspectionviewsurveyogledwhere a glass of wine is the appropriate welcome. The bus willt hen take us to Dobrovo castle, where we visit the permanent exhibition or graphic works by Zoran Mušič. A short walk by vineyards to the largest Slovene wine cellar „Goriška brda”. Guided tour of the cellar and wine tasting. Our itinerary continues with a visit to the Gradnik’s homestead located in one of the most famous villages, Medana. The trip ends with late lunch. The true jewel of the church is the high altar dated 1515, a superbly preserved late Gothic wing altar, the only in Slovenia. We drive through the villages Zali breg, Dobrovo and Drnovk to Višnjevik, the birth place of rebula.. A walk to the village Gradno and a visit to the Church of St. George. The tiny church hides two artistic treasures; Via Crucis by Zoran Mušič, sgrafitti on the nave and frescoes by Lojze Spacal. A stop at winemaker’s in Višnjevik for wine tasting. We continue by bus towards the vilage Vrhovlje pri Kožbani. Saint Andrew Church in Vrhovlje prides itself in the oldest frescoes in the Brda region. We drive to Golo Brdo and visit the church known as Saint Mary on the Lake, even tough the church is situated on top of the hill. A visit to the gallery of renowned cheramist Ivan Skubin. A visit to the local church is followed by wine tasting at the farmstead of the only female winemaker in Brda, She will guide us through her wine and local dishes. A stroll to Medana, one of the most beautiful and thriving villages in Brda. A visit to Gradnik’s memorial room.
